Bohdan Leschuk graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career in inside sales in an electrical equipment manufacturing firm progressing over a decade and a half to a management position as a Senior Switchgear Design Engineer. He then took a position in Ontario Hydro as an Assistant Product Engineer in the Procurement Department specialising in electrical switchgear. He was promoted to the positon of Product Engineer (High Voltage Switchgear) and then into management positions as the Supervising Inspection Engineer, the Materials Management Planning Manager and, later as a Procurement Manager.
After the reorganization of the electric utility, Mr. Leschuk continued his management career in Ontario Power Generation in Generation Services as Manager, Strategy and Business Processes, Strategic Services, Manager, Business Support and eCommerce completing his progress as Director of Procurement managing a staff of up to 100 staff and a multimillion dollar operating budget and was accountable for the administration of supply contracts in the order of $ 600 million annually for equipment, materials and services.
In the Ukrainian community, Bohdan Leschuk was a member of the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada from his early teens in the Ukrainian National Youth Organization at the Branch and National Level where he held the position of Executive Vice President. Subsequently, Bohdan became a member of the Ukrainian National Federation (Toronto Branch) serving in various capacities on the local Branch Executive until his retirement. Mr. Leschuk was called out of retirement to act as the Project Liaison between the UNF (Toronto Branch) and the Contractor during the redevelopment and reconstruction of the organization’s current premises
While he was a resident in Thornhill, Ontario, he was one of the founding members of St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Church there and served in a volunteer management capacity with the local branch of the Canadian Cancer Society.
Mr. Leschuk received recognition and an award from the Province of Ontario for his years of contribution to the Ukrainian community.
Bohdan Leschuk began his new post-retirement career with the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and is currently serving as its Executive Director and a member of the CUCC Oversight Committee for the CUTIS Project.
