Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Negotiations Underway

International Trade Minister Peter Van Loan advances
Canada’s ambitious free trade agenda

(No. 190 - June 15, 2010 - 2:30 p.m. ET) The Honourable Peter Van Loan, Minister of International Trade, met today with Ukraine’s ambassador to Canada Dr. Ihor Ostash to discuss the free trade negotiations between Canada and Ukraine.

Canada Ukraine Business Forum was held June 10-14, 2010 in Edmonton Alberta at the Chateau Louis Hotel and Conference Centre. The Business Forum was organized by Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Embassy and Ukrainian Embassy. The conference focussed on three sectors of business, Agriculture, Energy and Finance.

President: True faith will consolidate Ukraine

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych congratulated the nation on the Day of Conversion of the Kyiv Russ into Christianity.

"The way to welfare and prosperity of our nation lies today not only through economic growth. Faith also plays an important role, as a pledge of consent in society," Yanukovych said in his address.

The decision to regulate the gas price for the population could not be avoided. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said this today at a press conference on "Causes of bringing tariffs on natural gas to economically sound level and the Government's measures to strengthen social protection of the population.
