Honorary Consul of Ukraine
Erast Huculak graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Pharmacy Degree.
In 1957 founded Medical Pharmacies Group Inc., owns majority of shares in the company and acts as President and Chairman of the Board. Medical Pharmacies Group is a chain of professional pharmacies, which employs over 550 staff in Ontario and is the largest provider of medications to Long Term Care Facilities in Canada. For the last five years, Medical Pharmacies Group was recognized as one of the 50 best-managed companies in Canada.
Erast Huculak, in 1989, established the Huculak Chair of Ukrainian Culture and Ethnography, the first endowed chair in the University of Alberta's Faculty of Arts.
He bought and donated the building for the first Ukrainian Embassy in Ottawa.
He is the recipient of two President's Medals (III & II degree) - the only Canadian to have this special recognition.
In 2001, Erast received an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from the University of Alberta and in 2004 he was appointed Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Canada. He is married with his wife Yarmila and has five children and two grandchildren.
