CUCC launches Rebuild Ukraine Committee

Dear friends,

As the tensions between Ukraine and russia reached another record high last Fall and beginning of 2022 that to our regret lead to full-scale invasion into Ukraine, CUCC tried to help its members and UA & CA businesses by consulting them about ways to relocate businesses, overcome challenges and prepare BCP.

For the whole period since February 24, our team members based in Kyiv (with temporary relocation to Western Ukraine) and Toronto were ready to deliver.   For more than two months CUCC was the only Canadian organization with staff in Ukraine ready to help and monitor the situation.

Understanding that Ukraine not only needs military equipment and funding to win the war we also acknowledge that the country will face even tougher period of rebuilding its economy, infrastructure and investment flows, the Board of CUCC decided to establish the “Rebuild Ukraine Committee”.

The committee is comprised of CUCC board members, executive team & willing member companies representatives. Participation is open and based on willingness to bring and execute new ideas and challenging projects that might be presented to the Government of Canada for funding and further implementation. Committee’s main focus areas are Investment flows, Construction, Agriculture, Oil&Gas, Energy, and ICT. Members meet biweekly, reporting on the progress reached and further steps.

Should you wish to join Committee’s activities please contact Sviatoslav Kavetskyi or Olha Mandyuk.

Successful Ukrainian participation at the 2022 Global Energy Show

Global Energy Show, North America’s Leading Energy Event
June 7-9, 2022
BMO Centre at Stampede Park – Calgary, Canada
As North America’s Leading Energy Event, the Global Energy Show is the largest B2B exhibition and conference engaging

industry buyers and sellers, stakeholders and partners, CEOs, and young professionals together to share knowledge and fuel innovation in the ever-changing energy landscape.

Hosted on June 7-9, 2022, the Global Energy Show was inclusive to all energy systems, including features on the exhibition floor and conference in oil sands, hydrogen, wind, solar, petrochemicals, gas and LNG, electrification and nuclear. As no single source of energy can meet the increased global energy demand, the Global Energy Show is where Canada demonstrates its vision and leadership by bringing the right people together to meet global challenges with real-world solutions.
Within the last ten years participation of Ukraine in this leading energy event – including both companies and officials – is a tradition. Despite russia’s war against Ukraine, GES 2022 is not an exception. Event organizers and friends of the Canada Ukraine Chamber of Commerce put all their hearts and efforts to ensure a successful Ukrainian presentation at the event.
Organizers of the show provided a great opportunity for the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Ms. Yuliya Kovaliv and the top management of NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine to update on the situation in the energy sector of Ukraine at the breakfast on June 8, 2022.
Ambassador Kovaliv has emphasized: “We are grateful to Canada for support and clear understanding that dependence on the Russian oil and gas to be left in the past. Our (Ukrainian) oil and gas sector needs the Canadian expertise, technologies and investments in order to increase the domestic production”.

President of Canada Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Director of Zhoda Investments Mr. Zenon Potoczny represented the private sector and investors working in oil and gas in Ukraine. The topic of his presentation was “Ukraine’s Energy Security – Threats and Opportunities”. He mentioned that: “Energy sector is crucial in rebuilding Ukraine, with new technology and modernization of this sector Ukraine will not only be able to sustain its energy security but will be supporting the European energy security system as well”.
?On behalf of CUCC and Ukraine, we would like to thank the organizers of the show for this great opportunity, support of Ukraine and for the success of the event.
