Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce (CUCC) is proud to announce that it has been formally accepted as a member of the Diaspora Alliance for the Recovery of Ukraine and participated in the Alliance’s inaugural meeting on March 2nd.

This important milestone reflects CUCC’s continued commitment to strengthening international cooperation and mobilizing the global Ukrainian community in support of Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction, and long-term sustainable development.

A Global Platform for Coordinated Action

The Diaspora Alliance for the Recovery of Ukraine was initiated following the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2025) in Rome. In July 2025, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in cooperation with the Government of Ukraine, convened the Lab “Diaspora-Driven Strategies for Empowering Ukraine’s Recovery and Fostering Cohesion.”

The Lab built upon a series of consultations with more than forty Ukrainian diaspora organizations across Europe and North America. These discussions focused on identifying practical mechanisms to leverage diaspora expertise, professional networks, resources, and investment capacity in support of Ukraine’s reconstruction and resilience.

A key outcome of this process was the launch of a participatory framework to establish the Diaspora Alliance — a structured yet voluntary and non-binding coordination platform connecting diaspora communities, governments, international organizations, donors, and private-sector partners.

The Alliance serves as a bridge between global solidarity and coordinated, long-term contributions that support the rebuilding of Ukraine’s institutions, economy, and communities.

Vision and Mission

The Alliance is guided by a clear and forward-looking vision:

A globally united Ukrainian diaspora working hand-in-hand with national institutions and international partners to drive Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction, and sustainable development.

Its mission is to serve as an inclusive coordination platform that aligns diaspora-led and diaspora-targeted initiatives with Ukraine’s national recovery priorities, fosters policy coherence, and ensures meaningful engagement of Ukrainians worldwide.

Importantly, the Alliance directly contributes to the implementation of Ukraine’s National Recovery Plan, supports the country’s EU accession process, and reinforces the thematic priorities of the Ukraine Recovery Conference.

Strategic Objectives

The work of the Alliance is anchored in three core strategic objectives:

1. Leveraging Data and Evidence

Mapping diaspora capacities, promoting evidence-based planning, and strengthening the visibility of diaspora contributions to Ukraine’s recovery.

2. Promoting Policy Coherence

Sustaining dialogue between diaspora networks, Ukrainian institutions, and host-country governments to ensure alignment with national and European integration priorities.

3. Fostering Communication and Coordination

Ensuring transparent information exchange, avoiding duplication of efforts, and highlighting diaspora engagement in Ukraine’s reconstruction.

The Diaspora Alliance operates under a strong framework of values that reflect the integrity and responsibility of the global Ukrainian community:

• Transparency – open communication, regular reporting, and clear decision-making

• Inclusivity – representation across geography, generations, gender, and expertise

Through initiatives such as the Rebuild Ukraine Business Conference and ongoing collaboration with government and private-sector partners, CUCC has consistently worked to mobilize Canadian expertise and capital in support of Ukraine.
