Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce (CUCC) was proud to take part in the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 (URC 2025), held in Rome on July 11–12. This year’s conference brought together global leaders, financial institutions, and private sector stakeholders committed to Ukraine’s sustainable recovery and reconstruction—where CUCC was represented by President Zenon Potichny, Vice Presidents Mark Vytvytskyy and Mark Markevych, and Board Member Katherine Vellinga.
We extend our sincere thanks to Minister François-Philippe Champagne, who represented the Government of Canada at the conference and reaffirmed Canada’s steadfast commitment to supporting Ukraine’s recovery and long-term development. His presence sent a powerful message of solidarity and partnership.
Over two days of high-level engagement, the CUCC team connected with key international partners to explore how Canadian businesses can contribute to Ukraine’s economic transformation through investment, innovation, and collaboration.
The conference featured several landmark announcements that signaled a growing alignment of international resources and political will:
🟦 The European Union unveiled a €2.3 billion package of agreements, expected to unlock up to €10 billion in investments for Ukraine’s recovery. This includes €265 million for energy stabilization and efficiency, and €600 million for private sector-led projects in key sectors such as energy.
🟦 The European Flagship Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, backed by the European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB), France, and Germany, was launched with €220 million in initial capital and aims to mobilize €500 million by 2026.
🟦 The EBRD, EU, and partners introduced the Ukraine Renewable Energy Risk Mitigation Mechanism (URMM), which is projected to attract up to €1.5 billion for 1 GW of new renewable energy capacity.
🟦 Norway and UNDP announced a $200 million initiative to rebuild Ukraine’s energy sector, focusing on rapid deployment of co-generation units, solar systems, and energy storage solutions.
CUCC was honoured to be part of these vital discussions and to reaffirm the role of Canadian expertise, innovation, and capital in Ukraine’s recovery. As the rebuilding effort accelerates, CUCC remains committed to fostering partnerships between Canadian and Ukrainian stakeholders and mobilizing resources to support Ukraine’s resilient and inclusive growth.
