On June 6th CUCC President Zenon Potichny participated in the Global Ukrainian Summit 2026 in Bern, Switzerland, organized by the Ukrainian World Congress in cooperation with the Ukrainian Society of Switzerland.
Mr. Potichny joined the panel discussion “Reconstruction During War: How to Support Ukraine Today,” where he spoke about Canada’s role in supporting Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction, and long-term economic resilience.
In his remarks, Mr. Potichny emphasized that Canada has been one of Ukraine’s strongest and most consistent allies since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, providing financial assistance, humanitarian aid, development programming, military and security assistance, diplomatic support, and trade and investment cooperation.
He noted that Ukraine’s recovery cannot be achieved by governments alone. The private sector must play a central role, and Canada has the expertise, values, business capacity, and Ukrainian-Canadian connections to be a meaningful partner in Ukraine’s rebuilding.
Mr. Potichny highlighted the wide range of Canadian expertise that can support Ukraine’s reconstruction and modernization, including infrastructure, construction, engineering, energy, clean technology, cybersecurity, defence and security technologies, transportation, logistics, agriculture, mining, critical minerals, financial services, insurance, legal services, and project management.
He also spoke about the practical role of the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce in connecting Canadian and Ukrainian companies. CUCC helps Canadian businesses better understand Ukraine’s priority sectors, procurement processes, available financing and insurance tools, risk mitigation, legal considerations, and how to identify reliable partners on the ground. At the same time, CUCC supports Ukrainian companies in building partnerships, attracting investment, entering the Canadian market, and becoming part of international supply chains.
Mr. Potichny also highlighted CUCC’s key initiatives, including the Rebuild Ukraine Business Conference in Toronto, the Rebuild Ukraine Toolkit for Canadian Businesses, sector-focused webinars, business matchmaking, and direct support for Canadian and Ukrainian companies.
A key message of his remarks was that Ukraine’s recovery is both a moral responsibility and an economic opportunity. Rebuilding Ukraine is not only about restoring what was lost — it is about helping build a stronger, more modern, resilient, secure, sustainable, and globally connected Ukraine.
CUCC is proud to continue working with Canadian and Ukrainian businesses, government partners, financial institutions, investors, and diaspora networks to mobilize practical support for Ukraine’s recovery and long-term economic growth.
